I don’t want to download illegal music like the millions of criminals who think they are exempt from copyright laws. I make enough money that I don’t have to steal from others which is what they are doing so don’t tell me where I can get illegal downloads for free.
Now I’ll get down off my soapbox.
I’m looking for major name artists. I currently use www.walmart.com and www.msn.com. They are good, but I can’t find some of the songs I want like Money Talks by ACDC. I’ve tried ICrap, I mean ITunes, but their software interferes with ripping the tunes on my non-Crap, I mean non-Apple computer. I don’t like services that require me to download megs and megs of software just so I can dowloads some songs.

Yeah, right! I’d rather burn my money than give it to Jobs. They are the greediest company on planet Earth. Their products cost twice what other competing technologies cost. People that drive Lexus buy Apple. People who care about their money buy iAnythingElse.
Regarding Rhapsody, Yahoo and similar services: Why pay a monthly fee so you can buy products from them? When I go to the grocery store there’s no cover charge. The mall doesn’t collect a toll either. It makes no sense.

I am looking to purchase a desktop computer for mainly music downloading. Now besides dell what is the best brand.
There is no such thing as computer that is "best" at music downloading. All you need is a big harddrive and a connection to the Internet. Nearly every computer sold today meets those requirements.
I know about itunes….and frankly am trying to avoid it. I would prefer to use Napster or Rhapsody because there is a "CAP" on the bill a teenager could rack up. Is there a monthly subscription service that DOES work with ipods?

You can use torrents like Limewire, Frostwire, etc. But, these are illegal and are very risky to your computer. Use them at your own risk. I use iTunes, and I get free iTunes codes legally.
There are many sites that will offer free iTunes or Amazon gift cards for completing set offers, including surveys and tons of advertisements.
I use one of these sites, but there are no surveys or offers like that. Instead, it’s a search engine type thing, where sponsors pay the site for their results to appear and you in turn can get free stuff. If you are interested in this, I put a video in the source telling more about the site. It is important to note that this is in no way immediate, this can take several weeks, however, it is only a few minutes a day of doing searches, which you probably do anyway. You can eventually redeem for iTunes cards or Amazon cards for Amazon MP3.

Uh, iTunes? You’ll probably find the most variety of music in the iTunes store. The program is free - the downloads are usually .99 or 1.29 for single music tracks. You can get the gift cards at wal mart, walgreens and other such stores if you don’t want to give your credit card information online.
I assume you aren’t looking for P2P software because it would be silly if you’re willing to pay for software to download illegal content but aren’t willing to pay for the music itself.

It’s much cheaper than any other site I’ve came across and they are 100% legal paying the artist for their hard work in making music you enjoy. They also have just about every song in every genre.
