Are Weight Loss Diets Worth It?

Every year brings with it plenty of new weight loss diets which can make it hard for those who want to diet to know which ones really work. Currently the acai diet is one of the big weight loss diet fads, but before that, the book stores were packed with the Atkins diet, soup diet, and of course the zone diet. These are just a few of the millions of diets out there on the internet and in diet books today, however before you jump into one of these brilliant weight loss plans there are a few things that you should know.

First of all, there is one thing that is wrong with just about every one of the famous weight loss diets ; they all include dropping a large nutrient out of your daily diet. For example, the Atkins diet requires that you avoid carbs at all costs, while a soup diet requires that you restrict yourself to only consuming liquid forms of food. Other diets such as low fat diets work in the same manner.

The problem with these diets is that not only are they extremely restrictive, which leads to eventual burn out and binging, but the body needs a well balanced diet to stay healthy. Thus, even if you lose weight you do so at the expense of your health, which defeats the purpose of healthy eating anyhow.

Second, the other main problem with weight loss diets is that they usually place their emphasis on one magical item to do the trick. This is the problem with the acai diet; while acai can be very healthy for you, in order to really lose weight you need more than just a berry. Instead, you need to learn great overall eating and exercise habits. Thus, weight loss diets only actually work if they are balanced and include exercise as a daily requisite.
